Monsoon Arrives in Delhi but Rainfall Remains Sparse

On July 2, the monsoon officially arrived in Delhi, yet residents have not experienced the heavy rainfall they anticipated. On Saturday, only light drizzles were reported in select areas of the capital, leading to a slight drop in temperatures. According to meteorological officials, despite the slow start to the monsoon, there is no need for residents of Delhi NCR to worry, as intermittent rain is expected over the next few days.

Reasons for the Delay in Rainfall in Delhi

The lack of heavy rainfall and dry conditions in Delhi, despite the monsoon's arrival, can be attributed to a low-pressure area in central India, specifically over Odisha and Madhya Pradesh. This system has redirected the monsoon winds away from northern India towards southern and central regions. Consequently, there has been a decrease in humidity and cloud cover over Delhi. However, the weather department predicts that cloud movement will continue until July 10, providing some relief from the intense heat.

Today's Weather Forecast for Delhi

Today's weather in Delhi indicates a minimum temperature of 29.2 degrees Celsius, with maximum temperatures expected to hover around 33 to 34 degrees Celsius. The sky will remain overcast throughout the day, and strong winds may reach speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour.

Yellow Alert Issued for Delhi

While no major alerts have been issued for today, the entire city is under a yellow alert, advising residents to stay vigilant regarding changing weather conditions. According to the weather department, sudden thunderstorms with lightning may occur in several areas of Delhi by 1:30 PM today. Additionally, strong winds could lead to dust storms, so it is advisable to be cautious when stepping outside.
