Delhi's MCD Launches ₹9.73 Crore Project for Naini Lake Revitalization
Revitalization of Naini Lake in Model Town
New Delhi, August 9 - The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated a ₹9.73 crore project aimed at the restoration and beautification of Naini Lake located in Model Town. Officials announced this development on Sunday, stating that treated sewage water from the Coronation Pillar Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) will be directed into the lake. This initiative is designed to promote the reuse of treated wastewater.
The project, launched under the 'Amrit 2.0' scheme, was inaugurated on Sunday in the presence of Delhi's Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, MLA Ashok Goyal, local councillor Vikesh Sethi, and MCD Deputy Commissioner Mohit Bansal. According to officials, the treated water from the STP will flow into Naini Lake, while any surplus treated water will be utilized for irrigating nearby municipal parks. The restoration work is expected to be completed by July 2027.
