Delhi's Air Quality Measures Continue Despite GRAP-IV Lifting

Ongoing Air Quality Initiatives in Delhi

On Tuesday, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the Environment Minister of Delhi, announced that the 'No PUC, No Fuel' policy will persist in the national capital even after the lifting of the GRAP-IV restrictions. He emphasized that the government is committed to combating air pollution and has taken action against faulty pollution testing centers, alongside implementing new pollution control measures and rigorous inspections.

During a press conference, Sirsa highlighted that the PUC (Pollution Under Control) campaign in Delhi, operating under the slogan 'No PUC, No Fuel', will continue alongside GRAP-IV. He noted that 12 PUC centers involved in irregularities have been suspended and will be blacklisted. To tackle industrial pollution, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has issued 411 closure notices, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has sealed 400 units.




Furthermore, he mentioned that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved four new automated testing centers. The operation time for ASGs (Anti-Smog Guns) installed on the rooftops of tall buildings has been extended, and building owners are given the option to install misting systems around their premises. Sirsa also revealed that the cabinet has approved the establishment of an e-waste park in Holambi Kalan, with Delhi's first e-waste plant set to be established soon.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), air quality levels in certain areas of the National Capital Region (NCR) have reached 'severe' status. Pollution levels remain alarmingly high in various parts of the city. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented all actions under GRAP Phase-IV in Delhi-NCR.
