Delhi Weather Forecast: Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in the Coming Days

Weather Update for Delhi

In the national capital, Delhi, there is a likelihood of rain over the next two days, accompanied by strong winds. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that a thunderstorm could provide some relief from the intense heat. However, this weather pattern is not expected to last for an extended period.

Speaking to a news agency, IMD scientist Akhil Srivastava mentioned that light rain with thunder is anticipated in Delhi over the next couple of days. He indicated that the maximum temperatures could range between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. The IMD has forecasted further rain and thunderstorms in the capital during this period.

Relief from Heat

On Wednesday night, residents experienced some respite from the sweltering heat when a storm swept through the city. According to Akhil Srivastava, this sudden change in weather is attributed to a 'cyclonic circulation.' The IMD has predicted that rain with thunder could occur on Friday, with minimum temperatures hovering around 23 degrees Celsius and maximum temperatures around 37 degrees Celsius.

Heavy Rain Alerts for Konkan and Karnataka

The weather department has issued a red alert for the Konkan region, indicating the potential for heavy rainfall. A low-pressure area has formed over the eastern-central Arabian Sea, which is expected to intensify and move northward over the next 36 hours. Forecasts suggest that this system could become more severe, prompting the IMD to issue a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in the Konkan area over the next three days.

Akhil Srivastava also noted that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in central Maharashtra and areas along the western coast. The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in various locations across coastal Karnataka on May 24. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Kerala.

Fishing Advisory

Fishermen in the regions of the Arabian Sea, including Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, and the adjacent coasts of Gujarat and the Lakshadweep area, have been advised against venturing out from May 22 to May 27 due to the adverse weather conditions.

Heatwave Alert

The IMD has issued a red alert for heatwave conditions in western Rajasthan for the next two days. The forecast indicates that extreme heat is expected in certain areas of western Rajasthan from May 22 to 24. Additionally, there is a possibility of heatwave conditions in Jammu, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and parts of northern Madhya Pradesh on May 22 and 23. Similar conditions are anticipated in eastern Rajasthan on May 22 and 23, and in western Rajasthan on May 25 and 26.
