Delhi Traffic Police Requests Rescheduling of India vs Afghanistan T20I Match
Request to Reschedule T20I Match
The Delhi Traffic Police has made a formal request to the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) to consider rescheduling the first T20I match between India and Afghanistan, which is set for September 13. This information was shared by a source within the DDCA.
The T20I series, comprising three matches, is scheduled to take place from September 13 to September 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The DDCA source clarified that the match is not organized by them and any updates regarding the schedule change will be provided in due time. 'The Delhi Traffic Police has asked the DDCA to reschedule the match on September 13. However, the DDCA has stated that it is not their event. Any decision regarding a date change will be communicated later,' the source mentioned.
Yash Thakur to Replace Injured Harshit Rana
In another development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Yash Thakur, a fast bowler from Vidarbha, will replace Harshit Rana in the Indian squads for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games.
The BCCI Men's Selection Committee made this decision after Rana suffered a rectus femoris strain during a match simulation on September 7, which has ruled him out of the series. Although he was making good progress in his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, the injury has sidelined him. The 27-year-old recently debuted in T20I cricket during India's tour of Zimbabwe in July, where he played two matches and took four wickets.
