Delhi to Launch Electric Bus Service for Tourist Attractions
Introduction of Electric Bus Service in Delhi
Delhi's Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra announced the upcoming launch of an electric bus service under the 'Delhi By Evening' initiative. This service aims to connect major landmarks such as the Prime Minister's Museum, Rashtrapati Bhavan, the new Parliament building, and India Gate within a month.
Mishra emphasized that this project is part of broader efforts to enhance the city's tourism infrastructure and provide an eco-friendly sightseeing experience. He informed that the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has leased two electric buses for an initial period of three months.
These buses will be adorned with images of Delhi's iconic sites, showcasing the capital's rich cultural and historical heritage. The electric buses will cover a range of attractions, including the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, Prime Minister's Museum, Yashobhoomi, Bharat Mandapam, Delhi Haat (INA), Laxmi Narayan Temple, Jantar Mantar, Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, Agrasen ki Baoli, Safdarjung Tomb, Jama Masjid, Lodhi Garden, India Gate, National War Memorial, Raj Ghat, Garden of Five Senses, and the Old Fort.
Additionally, Mishra provided insights into the financial performance of the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC). He revealed that for the fiscal year 2024-25, the corporation generated a total revenue of ₹5.12 crore against an expenditure of ₹3.59 crore on tourism activities.
