Delhi Prepares for New Year Celebrations with Enhanced Security Measures

Capital Readies for New Year Festivities

As the New Year approaches, the national capital is fully prepared, with the Delhi Police implementing special measures to maintain security and law enforcement. On Saturday, police officials announced that they would closely monitor instances of drunk driving and violations of traffic regulations.

20,000 Personnel Deployed

On New Year's Eve, approximately 20,000 personnel from the Delhi Police, Traffic Police, and paramilitary forces will be stationed across the streets, markets, and malls of Delhi.

Increased Surveillance at Borders

In anticipation of crowds arriving from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, security has been heightened at Delhi's borders. Every vehicle will undergo thorough checks at the entry points.

Tight Security in Party Zones

Special barricades have been established around Connaught Place, Hauz Khas, and major shopping malls. Quick Response Teams (QRT) will be strategically positioned in key locations.

Vehicles Will Be Seized for Violations

The Traffic Police have devised a stringent plan to curb reckless driving and stunts. To identify drivers under the influence, police will utilize breath analyzers extensively. Officials have made it clear that vehicles will be immediately seized for drunk driving or dangerous stunts. Only vehicles with valid stickers will be allowed entry into the 'Inner Circle' of Connaught Place.

Ongoing Checks on Suspects

In light of security concerns, police are conducting regular inspections of hotels, guest houses, and night shelters. Special operations are also underway at bus stands and railway stations to identify any suspicious individuals or activities. All station officers have been instructed to remain on the streets throughout the night.
