On Wednesday, the excitement for the third season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) surged as captains from all eight franchises gathered for the official pre-season press conference. The tournament is set to kick off on July 31 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Organized by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), this month-long T20 league will run until August 30, showcasing some of the best cricket talent from Delhi. Following a successful player auction earlier this month, franchises have finalized their squads and are eager to commence their campaigns, as stated in a DPL press release.
The opening match of the Delhi Premier League will feature Central Delhi Kings facing off against Purani Dilli 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on July 31. The competition will conclude with the final match on August 30, where eight teams will vie for the prestigious DPL trophy.
Captains Share Their Aspirations for Season 3
Anuj Rawat, the newly appointed captain of Purani Dilli 6, expressed his excitement about leading the team. "It is a privilege to captain Purani Dilli 6. We have a well-balanced squad with a mix of experienced and young players. The league's atmosphere is fantastic, and we are eager to play in front of our home fans. Our goal is to play positive cricket and give our best in every match," he stated.
Ayush Badoni, captain of South Delhi Superstarz, emphasized the team's motivation to start strong. "The quality of cricket in the DPL has been exceptional, and every team appears competitive this season. We have trained well and are excited to hit the field. We hope to entertain our fans and maintain consistent performance throughout the tournament," he remarked.
Ayush Doseja, vice-captain of the defending champions West Delhi Lions, noted the team's determination to maintain their winning streak. "Winning last season has boosted our confidence, but this is a new season with new challenges. Every team has enhanced their squad, so we know it will be tough. Our focus is on playing quality cricket and defending our title," he said.
Siddhant Sharma, captain of Outer Delhi Warriors, believes his team has what it takes to go far in the tournament. "The team spirit has been excellent since the auction. Everyone is eager to contribute, and we have prepared diligently. We are excited to start the season and aim to make our supporters proud," he commented.
Yash Dhull, captain of Central Delhi Kings, highlighted the significance of consistency. "The DPL offers a fantastic platform for Delhi's cricketers to showcase their skills. We have formed a strong unit, and our aim is to play fearless cricket while ensuring consistency throughout the tournament," he explained.
Mayank Rawat, captain of East Delhi Riders, stated that his team is ready for the competition. "There is a lot of excitement within the squad. Every player is motivated, and we look forward to competing against some of the best talent in Delhi. It promises to be an exciting tournament," he said.
Sarthak Ranjan, captain of North Delhi Strikers, remarked on the league's growth. "The competition's standard improves with each edition, making it even more thrilling. We are confident in our preparations and eager to get started. Our focus is on playing disciplined and aggressive cricket," he noted.
Himmat Singh, captain of New Delhi Tigers, assured fans of high-quality cricket throughout the tournament. "The DPL has established itself as one of the premier domestic T20 leagues in the country. All teams are well-balanced, and the competition will be fierce. We are excited to begin our campaign and provide fans with plenty to cheer for," he stated.
