Delhi Police's Major Operation: 29 Foreign Nationals Deported Amid Illegal Immigration Crackdown

Significant Immigration Enforcement in New Delhi

New Delhi: In a decisive action against illegal immigration, the Delhi Police reported on Monday that they have detained and deported 29 foreign nationals residing in the capital without valid visas.

The group included 18 individuals from Bangladesh, as well as nationals from various African nations such as Nigeria, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Benin, and Tanzania.

This operation, executed in June, was spearheaded by the special staff along with multiple police stations in the Dwarka District.

Officials revealed that among the 29 apprehended, 11 were taken into custody by the Special Staff, seven by the Dabri Police Station, six by the Anti-Narcotics Cell, three by the Mohan Garden Police Station, and one each by the Uttam Nagar, Dwarka, and AATS units.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ankit Singh emphasized that the presence of these foreign nationals was straining local resources and public infrastructure.

He stated, "Foreigners staying illegally are consuming the resources of the land, putting pressure on the Dwarka district."

Police teams from various operational units and local stations have been diligently collecting intelligence regarding foreign nationals living illegally in the area.

After confirming their documentation and establishing that these individuals had either overstayed or entered India without proper visas, necessary actions were initiated.

Among those detained were Iddi Rashid (Tanzania), Daniel Jonas (Benin), Daniel Toe Tuweh and Martnis Sibiely (Liberia), Basil Uwaebuka Chigbogh, Chinomso Uzorh, and Basol Onyekachi Okwuenu (Nigeria), along with Ali Bamba, Anicet Nda, Chiaka Coulibuli, and Assi Eric (Ivory Coast).

The 18 Bangladeshi nationals included Md. Safikul Islam, Mosami, Md. Islam, Md. Attikul, Md. Bilal, Alpana, Asiya, Lalita Barman, Bittu Barman, Lalit Barman, Santuna Barman, and seven children aged between 2.5 and 15 years.

They were found to be overstaying in India without valid visas and were subsequently presented to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which mandated their deportation. They were then transferred to the Detention Centre.

This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Delhi Police to identify and deport illegal foreign nationals in the city. Officials have reiterated that similar operations will persist to ensure national security and appropriate resource management.
