Delhi Police Transfers Cases Against CJP Leaders to Crime Branch

The Delhi Police has escalated legal actions against Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka by transferring their cases to the Crime Branch. This follows allegations of trespassing into the Jantar Mantar area and assaulting police officers during their removal. The leaders have been placed in judicial custody, and their party claims the arrests are unjust. In a recent video, party member Dipke praised their leadership and announced a pause on protests until Diwali, urging supporters to spend time with family. The situation continues to develop as the CJP plans to challenge the custody order in court.

New Delhi, Oct 21: The Delhi Police has moved a second case against leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, to the Crime Branch, as reported on Wednesday.

This action follows the transfer of another case related to the same leaders, which involved their alleged unauthorized entry into the Jantar Mantar area.

The recent case pertains to an FIR filed at the Parliament Street police station on October 13, concerning accusations of trespassing into the Jantar Mantar, which is no longer designated as a protest site.

Additionally, the FIR includes claims that the protesters assaulted police officers while being removed from the area.

The complaint was lodged by a security officer and cites various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), addressing offenses such as obstructing public servants and assaulting them.

A senior police official indicated that the complainant was on duty when 10-11 CJP members allegedly breached barricades and entered the protest site by jumping over the gates of a private property.

The other case involving Das and Ranka, also related to their entry into Jantar Mantar, was transferred to the Crime Branch earlier this week.

According to police reports, Das, Ranka, Ajinkya Shinde, and 11 other CJP members allegedly accessed Jantar Mantar on October 13 by trespassing through private premises.

Police personnel present at the location intervened to prevent their entry, resulting in the detention of all 14 individuals and the registration of two FIRs.

On October 14, a Special Executive Magistrate placed Das and Ranka in five-day judicial custody for violating peace bonds, which was later extended by two days on Monday.

In response, the pressure group has labeled the arrests as unlawful, claiming that the leaders' sureties were dismissed without proper reasoning. CJP plans to contest the magistrate's custody ruling in the Delhi High Court.

In a heartfelt video message shared on social media on Tuesday, Dipke emphasized the significant contributions of Das and Ranka to the movement, referring to them as his brothers and expressing his admiration for their leadership.

In an emotional message released on Dussehra, Dipke announced that CJP would refrain from organizing protests until Diwali, encouraging supporters, who refer to themselves as “cockroaches,” to take a break and spend quality time with their families.
