Delhi Police Seeks Custody of Suspect in Shocking Murder Case
Police Custody Requested for Suspect in High-Profile Case
On Thursday, the Delhi Police presented the suspect, Rahul Meena, at Saket Court, requesting a four-day police custody for further interrogation. This case involves the alleged rape and murder of a 22-year-old woman, who was the daughter of an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, in the Kailash Hills area of South Delhi. According to police sources, this custody is crucial for reconstructing the events, verifying digital and forensic evidence, and uncovering the full motive behind the crime. Meena was apprehended shortly after the incident at a hotel in Dwarka and has remained in police custody since then.
Suspect's Attitude During Interrogation Raises Concerns
During questioning, the suspect reportedly showed no remorse and maintained a calm demeanor. He allegedly told investigators that he had only gone to the victim's home to collect money, repeatedly stating, "It just happened." His responses were described as unusually casual, and he even suggested that if the victim's sister had given him the money, the incident could have been avoided.
Forensic Teams Investigate Key Evidence
Sources indicate that forensic teams are examining critical evidence to confirm the sequence of events, which includes allegations of sexual assault, robbery, and murder. Officials noted that the suspect's behavior appeared unusually normal during the interrogation, prompting investigators to closely analyze his psychological profile and intentions. The suspect had reportedly worked as a domestic helper for the family for nearly a year and was well-acquainted with their daily routines. Allegations suggest he exploited the fact that the victim was alone at home during the mornings when her parents were out for their daily walks and gym sessions.
Trust Betrayed: The Suspect's Relationship with the Family
According to sources, the suspect claimed that the family treated him well, providing a monthly salary of ₹20,000 along with bonuses. Investigators revealed that the suspect, who was trusted by the family as a domestic helper, gained entry into the home by falsely asserting that "Aunty had called him to collect money."
