New Delhi, May 11: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has successfully located and rescued two minor girls in distinct operations executed by its Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU). This initiative underscores the department's commitment to humanitarian efforts and its vigilance in safeguarding at-risk children.

As per a press release from the Crime Branch, the AHTU team managed to recover the minors from different sites after conducting thorough search operations that included technical surveillance, field intelligence, and on-ground verification.

The Delhi Police remarked, “These successful missions reflect the unwavering commitment of the AHTU team in navigating the intricate emotional and social challenges that lead children away from safety.”

The first case involved a 16-year-old girl who had been reported missing since January 11, 2026, under FIR No. 16/2026 at Wazirabad Police Station, invoking Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities expressed serious concerns regarding her vulnerability following her disappearance.

A specialized team led by Inspector Mukesh Kumar, along with ASI Ajay Kumar Jha and Woman Constable Deepika, operated under the guidance of ACP Suresh Kumar to conduct a focused investigation. During their inquiries, it was revealed that the girl had left home due to distress caused by ongoing domestic conflicts linked to her father's alcohol issues.

She had departed without notifying her family and was later discovered residing with her maternal aunt. The girl was safely retrieved and subsequently handed over to the local police for further legal proceedings.

In a separate operation, the AHTU successfully rescued a 15-year-old girl who had been missing since October 2, 2024, in a case registered at Budh Vihar Police Station under FIR No. 350/2024. Upon questioning, the girl disclosed that she had left home voluntarily after meeting a boy.

Following a tip-off regarding her location near Rithala Village in Haiderpur, the police team executed a rapid search operation and successfully located her. She was then transferred to Budh Vihar Police Station for further legal action.

The Delhi Police emphasized that these operations represent more than just recoveries; they are “tales of resilience, compassion, and reunification that have restored hope to two families.”

In its closing remarks, the Crime Branch reaffirmed its dedication to the public, stating: “Delhi Police – Always Alert, Always Caring, Always There.”
