Extensive Police Operation in Delhi Ahead of New Year Celebrations

As the New Year festivities approach, law enforcement in Delhi has executed a large-scale operation overnight, resulting in the arrest of hundreds of suspects, the seizure of illegal weapons, and the recovery of stolen property. This initiative aimed to prevent crime during the busy holiday season. Conducted by the South East Delhi police, the operation named 'Operation Aghat 3.0' involved coordinated raids and inspections in sensitive areas of the district. The primary goal was to apprehend organized criminals, local offenders, and habitual lawbreakers.


Significant Arrests and Seizures

Authorities reported that during this operation, 285 individuals were detained under various sections of the Arms Act, Excise Act, NDPS Act, and Gambling Act. Additionally, as a preventive measure against potential crimes during the New Year celebrations, 504 individuals were taken into custody. Targeted actions against habitual offenders led to the arrest of 116 individuals with known criminal backgrounds, while police also apprehended 10 property offenders and five vehicle thieves during the raids.


Major Recoveries and Impact on Crime

The operation yielded significant recoveries, including 21 country-made pistols, 20 live cartridges, and 27 knives. Police teams also confiscated drugs and illegal alcohol, indicating attempts to distribute prohibited items in the market before the celebrations. A substantial amount of stolen property was recovered, with 310 mobile phones reported stolen, looted, or missing being retrieved during the operation.


Crackdown on Vehicle Theft Gangs

In a decisive blow to vehicle theft rings, police seized or recovered 231 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler during searches and road checks across the district. Overall, through night patrols based on local intelligence, police conducted investigations, verifications, and targeted raids, resulting in the arrest of 1,306 individuals as part of preventive measures.
