Extortion Call Received by Delhi Police Officer

In the development sector of Delhi's Vikaspuri, a head constable from the Delhi Police reportedly received a call demanding ₹10 crore in extortion from a close associate of the Himanshu gang. This information was disclosed by an official on Thursday. A senior police officer indicated that the head constable, stationed in West Delhi, received two phone calls, prompting the registration of a case under Section 308(4) (extortion) at the Vikaspuri police station on July 8.

Threatening Demands from Gang Associate

Sources reveal that the call was made by Sahil Ritoli, a close associate of Himanshu, who threatened the officer, warning that failure to comply with their demands would endanger his and his family's safety. The head constable was reportedly a friend of Manjeet Ahlawat, also known as Dighal, who was murdered in December 2024 during a wedding in Rohtak after refusing to pay extortion to the gang. Before working in the finance sector, Manjeet had served as a constable with the Delhi Police.

Investigation and Ongoing Threats

During the phone call, the head constable allegedly identified himself as a member of the Delhi Police, after which Ritoli demanded ₹10 crore. Initially, a complaint was filed, but a formal case was not registered. Following the spread of news about the incident, senior officials initiated an investigation, leading to the official registration of the case on July 8, which is still ongoing. The police are attempting to trace the number used to contact the head constable and are considering providing him with security due to the seriousness of the threats.

Himanshu's Criminal Background

According to a spokesperson from the Haryana Police, Himanshu is listed among the most wanted criminals by the police in Rohtak, Jhajjar, and Delhi. Interpol has issued a 'Red Notice' to all member countries, instructing them to take action if Himanshu is found within their jurisdiction. The police reported that Himanshu, allegedly linked to the Neeraj Bawana and Naveen Bali gangs, fraudulently obtained a passport, created fake identity documents, and fled the country. A senior officer from the Delhi Police stated that Himanshu is reportedly still running an extortion racket in Portugal.
