Delhi Police Foil Terror Plot: Four Arrested in ISI-Linked Conspiracy
Major Terror Plot Disrupted in Delhi
New Delhi: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has apprehended four individuals from Punjab and Delhi who were allegedly plotting a terror attack in the capital, reportedly under the guidance of an ISI handler named Shahzad Bhatti from Pakistan, officials disclosed on Thursday.
Authorities indicated that the suspects were operating under the influence of their handlers across the border, with a mission to execute terror-related activities within Delhi.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shubdeep Singh (23), Gurjant Singh (22), Sajan Singh (28), and Gaganpreet (24). Three of them hail from Punjab, while one was captured in Delhi.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered two foreign-manufactured pistols, nine live cartridges, and five mobile devices from the suspects.
According to police reports, the arrests followed specific intelligence regarding the group's activities. A Special Cell team, led by Inspectors Satish Rana and Ashok, and supervised by ACP Vivek Kumar Tyagi, executed coordinated raids across various locations in Delhi and Punjab.
The operation began in Amritsar, Punjab, where Shubdeep Singh was taken into custody. Authorities claimed to have seized a foreign-made pistol, live cartridges, and several mobile phones from him. His interrogation led to the arrest of his associates, Gurjant Singh and Sajan Singh, at different sites in Punjab.
The fourth suspect, Gaganpreet, was later captured in Delhi on April 24.
During extensive questioning, the suspects reportedly admitted to maintaining regular communication with their Pakistani handlers using foreign phone numbers to avoid detection by Indian intelligence.
Investigators further alleged that the group received arms and narcotics shipments delivered by drones from across the international border.
Police claimed that Gaganpreet had conducted surveillance on police stations and religious sites in Delhi, with plans to execute a shooting incident as part of the alleged conspiracy.
Shubdeep Singh, also known as Vishal, is from Tarn Taran district, which is near the India-Pakistan border. Authorities noted that he had a prior arrest related to narcotics and was allegedly involved in receiving drone deliveries of weapons and drugs.
Gurjant Singh, alias Rishi, also comes from Tarn Taran, while his cousin Sajan Singh, alias Honey, resides in Amritsar.
Both Gurjant and Sajan are accused of actively receiving arms shipments via drones and have previously faced charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Gaganpreet, a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, is alleged to have communicated with Pakistani handlers through social media, receiving instructions to create videos of police facilities and other sensitive areas in Delhi for further planning.
A case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
More information is expected to emerge.
