Delhi Police Detains Two Bangladeshi Nationals for Visa Violations

New Delhi, August 14: In a continued effort to address violations of visa regulations, the Foreigner Cell of the Special Staff from the Central District of Delhi Police apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals on Friday during Operation VISTA 1.0. This operation aims to verify the visa status of foreign nationals residing in the capital and take legal action against those who breach immigration laws.
The initiative involved thorough checks at various hotels and guest houses throughout Central Delhi. During a verification operation at a hotel located on Arakashan Road in the Nabi Karim area, police discovered two Bangladeshi nationals staying there. Upon reviewing their travel documents, including passports and visas, it was found that both had overstayed their permitted duration.
According to police reports, the individuals had entered India on June 23 with double-entry visas. Although their passports were valid until September 3, the visa terms allowed them to remain in India for only 15 days per visit. A detailed examination of their documents confirmed that they had remained in the country beyond the authorized period, thus violating visa regulations.
The detained individuals were identified as 23-year-old MD Anharul Islam Sourob Khan from Habiganj and 27-year-old Tarikul Islam Sujan from Cumilla, both in Bangladesh.
After the verification process, they were taken into custody and presented to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further legal action. During the interrogation, the two were questioned about their entry into India, the purpose of their visit, and their visa conditions. Verification of their travel history confirmed their overstay.
The operation was led by Inspector Sandeep Yadav, who oversees the Special Staff in the Central District, with overall supervision from ACP (Operations) Padam Singh Rana. The team included Head Constables Narender, Mohit, Vikas, Rajbir, and Manish, along with Constable Jayant and Women Constables Garima and Amit Kumari.
As part of the operation, systematic inspections were conducted at multiple hotels and guest houses, checking the identities, passport details, visa statuses, and travel records of foreign nationals residing in these establishments.
Upon reviewing the documents of the two Bangladeshi nationals, police confirmed that their allowed period of stay had lapsed. Consequently, actions were initiated against them for breaching visa conditions.
The FRRO issued Restriction Orders for both individuals, directing their detention at the Sewa Dham Detention Centre in Shahzada Bagh, Sarai Rohilla, Delhi, pending further legal proceedings.
Authorities have now commenced deportation procedures against the two foreign nationals in line with immigration laws. During the investigation, their passports, visas, and other travel documents were thoroughly examined, revealing no prior criminal records or adverse history against either individual.
Delhi Police emphasized that this action is part of Operation VISTA 1.0, an ongoing initiative focused on identifying foreign nationals who violate visa conditions, overstay their authorized residence, or breach immigration norms. The operation aims to ensure strict adherence to visa regulations and enhance monitoring of foreign nationals in the national capital.
