Mass Arrests in Operation Aaghat 3.0


On Friday, the police in Delhi apprehended 285 individuals for violations related to the Excise Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and the Public Gambling Act as part of a pre-New Year enforcement initiative.


In addition, 504 individuals were detained under preventive measures, and 116 individuals classified as having a 'bad character' were also taken into custody, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Hemant Tiwari.


The arrests were executed during an operation dubbed Aaghat 3.0, which aimed to curb criminal activities during the festive season. Coordinated searches were conducted across various locations within a 24-hour timeframe.


Authorities recovered a significant cache of items during the operation, including 21 country-made firearms, 20 live cartridges, 27 knives, over 12,000 quarters of illegal liquor, 6 kg of ganja, cash amounting to Rs 2,30,990, 310 mobile phones, 231 two-wheelers, and one car.


Tiwari emphasized that this operation marks a crucial effort in upholding law and order in the city.


Previously, in September, 70 individuals were arrested during the first phase of Operation Aaghat, which also resulted in the seizure of firearms, narcotics, illegal liquor, and stolen goods. The second phase in October saw 500 arrests.
