Major Drug Arrest in Delhi

The Delhi Police's Crime Branch has apprehended a significant figure in a national drug syndicate, seizing heroin valued at around ₹7 crore, as confirmed by officials on Thursday.

The suspect, Gaurav, a 24-year-old from Rohini, was taken into custody on June 28 after receiving a tip-off. During the operation, authorities confiscated 405 grams of heroin along with over 1,000 pouches believed to contain illegal substances, all found in his possession at the time of arrest.

According to an investigating officer, "Gaurav was caught in the act while attempting to deliver the drugs on a scooter, which was also confiscated." This arrest is considered a vital step in disrupting a larger drug supply network operating in and around the capital.

Upon questioning, Gaurav revealed the identity of his accomplice and primary supplier, Vanshu, who is currently evading capture. Police teams are actively conducting searches to locate him and uncover additional connections within the syndicate.

Officials noted that this syndicate was heavily involved in supplying heroin and smack to drug users throughout Delhi. Gaurav, who dropped out of school, initially helped relatives in the illegal liquor trade. In 2023, he met Vanshu at a wedding, which led him to start sourcing and distributing heroin to a small but consistent group of addicts.
