Delhi Police Arrest Two in Major Drug Trafficking Bust
Significant Drug Seizure in Delhi
The Delhi Police have apprehended two individuals suspected of being part of an interstate drug trafficking syndicate, seizing two kilograms of heroin in the process. The estimated value of the confiscated narcotics is around ten crore rupees in the international market, as reported by an official on Wednesday.
The suspects have been identified as Anshul Rana and Ganga Prasad, also known as Vicky. According to the authorities, a total of 2.034 kilograms of heroin was recovered from Rana during a raid in Dwarka, while Prasad was arrested in a separate operation in the Laxmi Nagar area of East Delhi.
The operation was initiated following intelligence regarding a trafficker's activities related to a significant heroin shipment destined for a school in Dwarka. The police team successfully apprehended Rana near a sports complex adjacent to the school, where the heroin was discovered in his bag.
A case has been registered under the relevant provisions, and further investigations are underway. During questioning, Rana disclosed that he had obtained the illegal substance from Prasad, who sourced it from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. Based on this information, the team located Prasad in Laxmi Nagar and took him into custody.
Authorities revealed that this syndicate was operational in the Delhi-NCR region, with Prasad allegedly purchasing large quantities of heroin from Bareilly and supplying it to Rana, who then distributed it to local dealers in the capital. In addition to the heroin, police also seized a scooter and six mobile phones believed to have been used in the trafficking operation.
