New Delhi: On Sunday, the air quality in the capital was classified as 'very poor', with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 390, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
The meteorological department has issued an orange alert for Monday, predicting very dense fog, with temperatures expected to range between 22 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius.
Data from the CPCB's Sameer App indicated that 19 monitoring stations across Delhi recorded 'severe' air quality, with Anand Vihar experiencing the highest AQI of 457, while others fell into the 'very poor' category.
According to CPCB standards, an AQI of 0-50 is deemed 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor', and 401-500 'severe'.
The city registered a low of 6.3 degrees Celsius, which is 0.5 degrees below the seasonal average, while the maximum temperature reached 22.5 degrees Celsius, exceeding the seasonal average by 2.1 degrees, as per the meteorological department's report.
Humidity levels peaked at 100 percent at 5:30 PM.
