Delhi Ministers Submit Memorandum to Assembly Speaker

Several ministers from Delhi, including Pravesh Verma and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, have approached Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta with a memorandum demanding the resignation of opposition leader Atishi. Speaking to the media, Pravesh Verma stated, “We have written to the Assembly Speaker requesting the cancellation of Atishi's membership due to her actions... Not only this assembly but every citizen of the country is hurt by this. Our Gurus sacrificed their lives and families to strengthen the integrity of the nation, yet the opposition leader, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, has mocked them... We hope that Atishi's membership will be revoked.”


Controversy Erupts in Assembly Over Atishi's Comments

A significant uproar occurred in the Delhi Assembly following sharp protests from BJP legislators regarding Atishi's remarks. The legislators demanded that the opposition member be present in the session and that a censure motion be introduced against her. Kapil Mishra remarked that the Speaker had read Atishi's words, which were extremely disrespectful. He noted that such offensive language was used while the assembly was discussing the honor of Guru Tegh Bahadur. “I cannot even repeat her words. She must come to the assembly; merely apologizing will not suffice,” he asserted.

BJP legislator Harish Khurana emphasized that discussions were underway regarding the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He condemned Atishi's inappropriate comments, stating, “We strongly denounce this... After discussing this matter, we will also present a censure motion tomorrow.”
