Intense Exchange Between Rahul Gandhi and Ravneet Singh Bittu
Delhi's Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has sharply criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for labeling Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu as a "traitor," referencing Operation Blue Star and the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. The heated exchange occurred outside Parliament, where the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha accused Bittu of betrayal. This verbal clash ignited when Bittu commented on protesting MPs, suggesting they were acting as if they had won a war.
In response, Sirsa condemned Gandhi's remarks, stating that calling a Sikh minister a 'traitor' is unacceptable. He expressed his outrage, saying, "If anyone is a traitor, it is you, Rahul Gandhi. A Sikh can never be a traitor. Using such language reflects Congress's unchanged mentality. If there is a traitor, it is the Gandhi family, who attacked Sri Darbar Sahib with tanks, damaged Akal Takht Sahib, and burned innocent Sikhs alive."
Sirsa further emphasized the need for accountability, urging the Lok Sabha Speaker to take immediate action against Gandhi for his offensive comments towards Sikhs. BJP spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill also criticized Gandhi, labeling his statements as an insult to the Sikh community.
Jaiveer Shergill posted on X, stating, "By calling Union Minister Ravneet Bittu a traitor, Rahul Gandhi has disrespected the entire Sikh community, showcasing his rudeness and arrogance, proving once again that he is unfit to be the Leader of the Opposition! Mr. Gandhi, Sikhs have served and protected the nation, unlike you, who question the army, defame the country, and cozy up to China! Shameful and disgusting."
Earlier today, Ravneet Singh Bittu retaliated against the Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha, asserting that Gandhi's choice of words stems from his departure from Congress to join the BJP. He claimed that he considers himself a true patriot, referencing his grandfather, Sardar Beant Singh, and highlighting the historical violence instigated by Congress against Sikhs, including the shooting at Guru Granth Sahib in the Golden Temple and the targeted killings of thousands of Sikhs. He concluded by drawing a parallel between the treatment of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as a 'martyr' and his own lineage from the family of Shaheed-e-Azam Beant Singh.
