Delhi Metro to Begin Early Services for Independence Day Celebrations

In preparation for the Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2025, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced that metro services will begin at 4 AM. This initiative aims to facilitate the attendance of the general public, special guests, and invitees at the event. Trains will run every 15 minutes until 6 AM, after which the regular schedule will resume. Additionally, those with official invitation letters from the Ministry of Defence will have special QR tickets for easy access to the ceremony venue. This move is expected to enhance public participation in the national celebration.

Early Metro Services on Independence Day

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Wednesday that to facilitate public attendance at the Independence Day celebrations, metro services will commence at 4 AM on August 15. Trains will operate every 15 minutes across all lines until 6 AM, after which the regular schedule will resume for the remainder of the day. Notably, the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Delhi Gate metro stations are the closest to the event venue.


DMRC stated that on August 15, 2025, to accommodate special guests, invitees, and the general public for the Independence Day ceremony, metro services will start at 4:00 AM from all terminal stations across all lines. Until 6:00 AM, train services will run every 30 minutes, followed by the regular timetable for the rest of the day.


Additionally, individuals holding genuine invitation letters issued by the Ministry of Defence will be provided with transportation to and from the ceremony venue. These individuals can use special QR tickets provided by DMRC to access the event, with the travel costs reimbursed to DMRC by the Ministry of Defence.
