In a bid to conserve fuel, the Delhi government has mandated that its employees work from home two days a week. This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion and promote responsible fuel consumption. The government is also encouraging private companies to adopt similar policies. Alongside these measures, adjustments to office hours and a campaign to promote public transport are being introduced. New Work-from-Home Policy in Delhi

The Delhi government has made it mandatory for its employees to work from home two days a week, with plans to consult the private sector soon. The government aims to encourage private companies to adopt a similar work-from-home policy. The Chief Minister stated that these measures are part of efforts to save petrol and diesel, under the initiative 'My India, My Contribution'.

Traffic Management and Fuel Conservation Initiatives

To reduce traffic congestion and fuel consumption during peak hours, the Delhi government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will also adjust office hours. Additionally, the government plans to launch a campaign to promote responsible fuel consumption among citizens. A decision has been made to decrease the use of government vehicles, with a 20% reduction in the petrol quota allocated to officials, lowering the monthly limit from 200 liters to 160 liters. As part of promoting public transport, 'Metro Day' will be celebrated in Delhi, and residents will be encouraged to observe a 'Car-Free Day' once a week.

Restrictions on Vehicle Purchases

Furthermore, the Delhi government has announced that it will refrain from purchasing any new vehicles for the next six months. To encourage the use of public transport among employees, 58 special buses will be operated for government staff across 29 government colonies. These initiatives follow the Prime Minister's appeal to citizens to minimize unnecessary fuel consumption, postpone non-essential purchases, and avoid unnecessary foreign travel to protect India's foreign exchange reserves.
