Arrest of a Suspect Linked to 2020 MCOCA Case

A 32-year-old man has been apprehended in connection with a case registered under the MCOCA in the Inderpuri area of Delhi back in 2020, as confirmed by an official on Saturday.

The official revealed that the suspect had sustained injuries in a serious road accident a decade ago, yet continued to engage in criminal activities. The individual has been identified as Suraj, also known as Michael, a resident of Madangir in South Delhi. He was declared a fugitive in December 2024 concerning this case registered at the Ambedkar Nagar police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Aditya Gautam stated, 'Suraj is an active member of the 'Thak-Thak' gang and has been involved in nearly 30 cases, including robbery, theft, motor vehicle theft, and illegal possession of firearms.'

The police reported that Suraj was arrested as part of a major operation against the gang led by P. Silva, who was running a syndicate involved in snatching, theft, and armed robbery. During the investigation, several gang members were apprehended, but Suraj had been on the run.

Authorities monitored Suraj's activities in the Inderpuri area and successfully captured him during a targeted operation on June 19. During questioning, Suraj disclosed that he had been active in the gang since 2013 and continued his criminal involvement despite being a victim of a significant road accident nearly ten years ago.

The police noted that he had relocated from Ambedkar Nagar to Inderpuri to evade capture while continuing his illegal operations. The investigation related to this case is ongoing.
