Delhi High Court Upholds Ruling Against JEE Candidates Over Exam Irregularities

The Delhi High Court has upheld a previous ruling that dismissed a petition from two JEE candidates who alleged irregularities in their exam answer sheets. Instead of imposing fines, the court has mandated community service for both candidates. This decision follows a report from the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory, which played a crucial role in the case. The candidates are now required to serve in an old age home and a childcare center, respectively, for a month. This ruling highlights the court's stance on maintaining integrity in examination processes.

Court Decision on JEE Candidates' Petition

The Delhi High Court has confirmed the decision made by a single judge to dismiss a writ petition filed by two candidates concerning the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The petition alleged irregularities in the answer sheets of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2025. However, the bench, comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, modified the initial order that imposed fines on the candidates, directing them instead to perform community service for one month.

The two-judge bench was reviewing appeals from the petitioners who contested the single judge's ruling from September 22, which rejected their claims on the grounds that the answer sheets they submitted were not authentic.

The single judge had considered a report from the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) and imposed fines of ₹30,000 on each of the applicants.

In its order issued on December 22, the High Court instructed one of the appellants to undertake community service at an old age home from May 15 to June 15, specifically between 11 AM and 1 PM each day. The other appellant was directed to serve at a childcare center in Ghaziabad for the same duration.
