Delhi High Court Reinstates Cockroach Janta Party's X Handle After Blocking

Court Decision on CJP's Social Media Handle

New Delhi: On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court ruled in favor of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), ordering the unblocking of its X handle that had been restricted in May.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma made this decision following a petition from CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, challenging the government's blocking order.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta explained that the handle was initially blocked to prevent potential "chaos" among students and parents in light of the NEET re-test scheduled for June 21.

"Given that the NEET has already taken place, the initial concerns are no longer applicable. Therefore, the order is lifted, and the petition is granted," Justice Sharma stated.

The CJP's original X handle was suspended on May 21, shortly after its launch as a satirical platform on May 15, which followed controversial remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.

After the suspension, the group quickly created a new handle, 'Cockroach is Back,' which has since gained over 227,000 followers.

The movement has garnered attention for its unique symbolism and digital activism, with supporters embracing the "cockroach" identity as a form of protest.

The CJP aims to establish a youth-led movement that amplifies young people's concerns and holds the government accountable. They have initiated a campaign calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to alleged systemic issues in the education sector and the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.
