The Delhi High Court has prohibited yoga guru Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved from airing advertisements that allegedly defame Dabur's Chyawanprash product. This interim ruling was made following a complaint from Dabur, which accused Patanjali of undermining its product by asserting that no other company possesses the expertise to create it.
Dabur contended that it was misleading and damaging to categorize other brands as “ordinary.” The claims misrepresented Patanjali’s own formulation, questioned Dabur’s commitment to Ayurvedic principles, and portrayed Dabur’s product as inferior, according to the petition.
Furthermore, Dabur asserted that Patanjali has a history of such behavior, referencing previous contempt orders against the company for similar advertising practices.
The Karnataka High Court has demanded the state government to explain the ongoing suspension of Bengaluru’s Additional Commissioner of Police, Vikash Kumar, following a tragic stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium that resulted in 11 fatalities on June 4. The government suspended Vikash along with four other officers, citing negligence.
Vikash contested the suspension at the Central Administrative Tribunal, which subsequently annulled the order, stating that the suspension lacked adequate justification. The tribunal also instructed the state government to reinstate Vikash immediately.
In response, the state government appealed to the High Court against the tribunal’s decision. On Thursday, the court inquired whether transferring the officer might have sufficed instead.
India has asserted that the current Dalai Lama will personally select his successor, dismissing claims from China that the reincarnation must receive government approval. Union minister Kiren Rijiju stated, “Only he has the authority to decide, along with established conventions.”
This statement followed China's assertion that the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation must adhere to Chinese laws and religious customs.
The Dalai Lama had previously indicated that the Gaden Phodrang Trust, established in 2015 to support the institution of the Dalai Lama, holds the exclusive right to determine his successor.
The Mumbai Police informed the Bombay High Court that there was no evidence of foul play in the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Disha reportedly died by suicide on June 8, 2020, after falling from a building in Mumbai. The police closed the investigation in 2021, concluding that no foul play was involved.
However, Disha's father, Satish Salian, approached the High Court in March, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into her death and the filing of a first information report against Aaditya Thackeray, a leader of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).
He alleged that his daughter was murdered and that there was a politically motivated cover-up to protect influential individuals.
The police requested the dismissal of the petition. Thackeray refrained from commenting on the issue, stating he has chosen silence despite attempts to tarnish his reputation.
