He has sought legal action against the leaders associated with CJP, claiming the graphic is false.
Bhatia has approached the court demanding ₹2 crore in damages for defamation. His petition names CJP's Abhijit Deepke, Sourav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka as defendants. The allegations state that the alleged fake content was shared and disseminated on social media, harming his reputation.

The controversy began with a social media post shared by Sourav Das, which displayed a supposed statement from Gaurav Bhatia. Bhatia labeled the post as fake and demanded its removal along with an unconditional apology. Although the post was eventually taken down, the issue escalated to the courts.
Court's Observations
During the hearing on September 10, 2026, the Delhi High Court commented on the post shared by Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. The court deemed it inappropriate to post on social media about an individual without verification and advised the removal of the post. Sourav Das confirmed the removal of one post.
Meanwhile, Abhijit Deepke was dismissed from the petition as no allegations were presented against him in this case. This indicates that the court is evaluating each defendant's role based on distinct grounds.
