Delhi High Court Denies Bail to Former AAP MLA Naresh Balyan in Organized Crime Case

New Delhi, August 3 - The Delhi High Court has rejected the bail plea of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan in a case filed under stringent organized crime laws. Justice Manoj Jain announced the decision on Monday, stating, “We are dismissing this.”

Balyan was arrested on December 4, 2024, under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). On the same day, a lower court had granted him bail in a separate extortion case.

In his plea for bail, Balyan argued that there was “not a single piece of evidence” against him and claimed the case was “entirely baseless.” He faces allegations of facilitating and managing activities of an organized crime syndicate. Previously, on January 15, 2025, a lower court also denied his bail application in the same MCOCA case.

During that hearing, the prosecution referenced 16 FIRs filed against alleged members of the criminal gang in various parts of Delhi, asserting that the gang had caused chaos in society and amassed significant wealth through illegal means.
