Delhi Government Offers Compensation Following Malviya Nagar Fire Tragedy
Compensation for Victims of Malviya Nagar Fire
On Thursday, the Delhi administration declared that families of the victims who lost their lives in the recent fire incident in Malviya Nagar will receive an ex gratia payment of ₹10 lakh.
Individuals who sustained serious injuries will be provided with ₹5 lakh in assistance, as announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's office.
Gupta visited the injured at Max Hospital in Saket on Thursday, instructing officials to ensure they receive all necessary support. The Chief Minister's office confirmed that medical expenses for the injured will be coordinated with hospital authorities to guarantee optimal care for every patient.

The fire erupted on Wednesday at Flourish Stays, a five-story bed-and-breakfast located in a narrow lane across from Max Hospital in Saket. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 21 individuals, including 10 Indians, nine from various African nations, and two from Turkmenistan.
Malviya Nagar MLA Satish Upadhyay, who accompanied Gupta during her visit, reported that the condition of the injured has significantly improved over the past day. Currently, 17 individuals are hospitalized at Max Hospital, with seven requiring ventilator support.
Following the incident, the Delhi Police apprehended Lovkesh Bajaj, the owner of the property where the fire occurred.
In response to the fire, Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood ordered the immediate sealing of all bed-and-breakfast establishments that violate building regulations. He emphasized that no showcause notices should be issued, stating, "Just seal all the BnBs."
