Delhi Fire Department Denies Fire Safety Certificates to Key Institutions
Fire Safety Compliance Issues at Major Institutions
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) has refused to issue fire safety certificates (FSC) to both the Delhi Police Headquarters and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hospital. A DFS official provided this update on Friday.
According to the DFS representative, both establishments were found to be non-compliant with essential fire safety standards. An official statement from the DFS highlighted that inspections revealed several critical deficiencies that posed a fire safety risk, leading to the suspension of certification until the issues are resolved.
The 17-story Delhi Police Headquarters, located on Jai Singh Road, had applied for FSC renewal on April 21. Following a joint inspection with Delhi police personnel on May 30, the DFS identified at least four significant violations. The headquarters, inaugurated in 2019, spans an area of 8.09 acres.
