Weather Update for Delhi

On Tuesday morning, the national capital faced mild warmth accompanied by fog. According to the latest data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded above the normal range. Additionally, the city's air quality index (AQI) has once again fallen into the 'poor' category, posing health risks for residents.


The minimum temperature was noted at 12.4 degrees Celsius, which is 0.6 degrees higher than the seasonal average. The IMD has indicated that fog is expected to persist throughout the day, with maximum temperatures anticipated to hover around 30 degrees Celsius.


Data from the central region shows that Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 13.5 degrees Celsius, exceeding the normal by 2.2 degrees. Meanwhile, Lodhi Road registered 12.8 degrees Celsius (1.8 degrees above normal), and the Ridge area noted 13.6 degrees Celsius (0.3 degrees higher than usual). Ayangar also reported a minimum of 12.8 degrees Celsius, which is 0.4 degrees above the average. The weather department confirmed that no rainfall was recorded at these stations by 8:30 AM.


At 9 AM, the air quality index was measured at 227, categorizing it as poor. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) via the Sameer app, 27 monitoring stations reported poor air quality, 10 showed moderate levels, and two were in the very poor category. Anand Vihar recorded the highest AQI at 331. The CPCB classifies AQI levels as follows: 0-50 is 'good', 51-100 is 'satisfactory', 101-200 is 'moderate', 201-300 is 'poor', 301-400 is 'very poor', and 401-500 is 'severe'.
