Court Proceedings and Accusations

CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts confirmed that Rahul entered the colony around 6.30 am

New Delhi, Apr 23: A 19-year-old domestic worker, Rahul Meena, has been remanded to four days of police custody by a Delhi court following allegations of murdering the daughter of a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer at her residence in upscale southeast Delhi.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Deepika Thakaran approved the police's request for custodial interrogation of the accused.

The victim, a 22-year-old IIT graduate, was reportedly raped and killed by Meena, who had previously worked in her household, on Wednesday morning. This incident occurred shortly after he and his accomplices allegedly assaulted another woman in Alwar, Rajasthan.

Investigations into the rape and murder indicate that Meena entered the Kailash Hills apartment and proceeded directly to the rooftop study, where he allegedly attacked the victim, subsequently dragging her bloodied body downstairs, according to police sources.

Authorities have described Meena as showing no remorse, frequently altering his statements throughout the investigation.

Reports suggest that the accused used a spare key to access the home, attacked the victim—who was preparing for civil services exams—raped her, and then moved her body. He reportedly strangled her with a mobile phone charging cable before striking her with a heavy object, leaving her unconscious.

"The investigation indicates that the accused raped the victim while she was unconscious. He then attempted to access a locker using her fingerprint but failed," a police source revealed.

Meena allegedly forced the locker open with a screwdriver, stealing cash and jewelry before changing his blood-stained clothing and escaping approximately 30 minutes before the victim's parents returned home.

According to police, he spent around 40 minutes inside the residence.

CCTV footage and eyewitness reports confirmed that Rahul entered the colony at 6:30 am, accessed the house at 6:49 am, and exited at 7:20 am.

The crime was discovered when the victim's parents returned to find her in a pool of blood, her clothing torn, and belongings scattered throughout the home.

Meena had been employed as a domestic worker in the household for about eight months before being dismissed a month prior to the incident, and he was aware of the family's morning routine, as they were not home during the attack.
