Delhi Chief Minister Acknowledges BJP's Success
Rekha Gupta, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has commended the residents of the national capital for their support as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured seven out of twelve seats in the recent Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections. She attributed the party's success to the hard work of BJP activists and congratulated the winning candidates. In a post on X, Gupta expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Delhi for their invaluable blessings during the elections, stating that this victory is a strong testament to the relentless efforts, dedication, and collective strength of the party's workers and organization.
Election Results and Reactions
Gupta further congratulated all BJP candidates who emerged victorious in the by-elections, reaffirming the government's commitment to Delhi's development and continuous efforts in that direction. However, it is noteworthy that the BJP lost two seats compared to the previous elections, where they had won nine out of the twelve contested seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured three seats, while Congress managed to win one seat, marking its entry into the electoral race. Additionally, the All India Forward Block (AIFB) also claimed one seat.
AAP's Perspective on the Results
In response to the election outcomes, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal shared his thoughts on X, highlighting that the party fielded dedicated workers in the by-elections. He noted that the public's mandate clearly indicates a strengthening support for AAP in Delhi. Kejriwal emphasized that in just ten months, the trust of the people is rapidly returning to AAP, suggesting that Delhi is on the verge of returning to positive politics and effective governance.
Winners from AAP and Other Parties
From the AAP camp, Rajan Arora, Anil, and Ram Swaroop Kanaujia won in Ward 139 Naraina, Ward 35 Mundka, and Ward 164 South Puri, respectively. Notably, South Puri is the only seat reserved for Scheduled Castes where elections were held. Meanwhile, AIFB's Mohammad Imran and Congress's Suresh Chaudhary won in Ward 76 Chandni Mahal and Ward 163 Sangam Vihar-E, respectively. Suman Kumar Gupta, who won from Chandni Chowk, promised to address issues related to traffic congestion, electricity, and water supply.
