Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Expresses Disappointment Over Opposition's Mockery
Emotional Address by CM Rekha Gupta in Assembly
During a recent assembly session, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta became emotional as she expressed her sorrow over the continuous mockery and personal attacks from the opposition Aam Aadmi Party regarding minor errors in her speeches. Addressing the house, Gupta pointed out that instead of discussing significant issues affecting the national capital, her opponents chose to ridicule unintentional mistakes.
Gupta criticized those who insult her, asserting that they do not appreciate a woman chief minister who works tirelessly. She referenced the criticism she faced for misspelling "AQI" (Air Quality Index). Gupta further alleged that she encounters "baseless accusations" and "derogatory comments" for mispronouncing words or making minor errors.
She stated, "My ministers and I will always be seen working on the streets of Delhi. You will continuously see us engaged in public service, as our government believes in accountability. However, I am deeply concerned about the behavior of some individuals." Gupta accused the opposition of resorting to personal attacks repeatedly, saying, "Sometimes they make comments that hurt our dignity. They nitpick on trivial matters and point fingers at minor slip-ups, like when I wrote AIQ instead of AQI, and they will continue to do so. They listen to the entire speech just to mock it later."
Gupta was participating in the discussion on the 'Thank You Motion' regarding the address given by Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena during the winter session of the Delhi Assembly. Sharing a video of her speech on social media, she mentioned that she is "working tirelessly for Delhi day and night," adding that this dedication seems to trouble her critics, who cannot tolerate her efforts.
