Bicycles Distributed to Enhance Education for Girls
On Monday, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta distributed bicycles to nearly 200 ninth-grade girls from Zone 7 in North Delhi as part of the 'Vidya Vahini Yojana.' The event took place at the Delhi Assembly premises, aiming to facilitate easier commutes to school and encourage girls to continue their education. This initiative targets students who face challenges in traveling to school, particularly those who have to cover long distances. By making travel more accessible and affordable, the program seeks to increase regular attendance, reduce dropout rates, and provide greater freedom to female students.
The girls receiving bicycles expressed that this initiative would ease their commute and boost their confidence in continuing their studies. During the event, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that bicycles should not only be viewed as a means of transportation but also as a tool to promote girls' education and independence.
