PAC Meeting Addresses Key Issues

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Delhi Assembly convened on Thursday to deliberate on the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report concerning air pollution, liquor trade, and healthcare under the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

This CAG report was submitted during the budget session in March and subsequently forwarded to the PAC.

Ajay Mahawar, the PAC chairman, stated that the meeting focused on the serious issues of air quality in Delhi, irregularities in the liquor trade, and the performance of healthcare services as highlighted in the CAG report.

Mahawar remarked, “The committee has requested detailed information from the relevant departments to ensure transparency and accountability. Discussions on future actions regarding these matters were also held.”

He emphasized that the role of the PAC extends beyond merely analyzing the CAG report; it also aims to establish accountability and transparency in the public interest. Mahawar, who is also a BJP leader and MLA from the Ghonda constituency, noted, “The topics discussed in the PAC meeting are directly related to the public.”

He assured that meaningful discussions on the CAG report would take place, leading to an impartial report being presented in the Assembly. The meeting was attended by BJP MLAs Satish Upadhyay, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Shikha Rai, Kailash Gehlot, and Rajkumar Chauhan, all members of the PAC. Additionally, AAP MLAs Atishi, Virendra Kadiyan, and Kuldeep Kumar participated as PAC members.
