Delhi: A Living Civilization, Says Chief Minister Rekha Gupta
Delhi as a Cultural Hub
On Sunday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that Delhi is not just a city but a "vibrant civilization" that has evolved from the ancient Indraprastha of the Mahabharata to a modern democratic hub.
Gupta made these remarks during the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held at the Red Fort complex in the national capital.
She highlighted that India's intangible cultural heritage spans from the Vedas and Upanishads to festivals, rituals, and performing arts, thriving not in museums but in the daily lives of its people.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the preservation of intangible heritage has become more crucial than ever due to rapid modernization, climate change, migration, and digital transformation.
She noted that India's recent emphasis on promoting traditional knowledge systems and cultural practices on global platforms reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of strengthening the country's cultural roots and civilizational identity.
