Itanagar, July 4: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has successfully constructed a 180-foot Bailey bridge in the isolated Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh, significantly improving strategic access to border regions.
This bridge, built under Project Arunank, was inaugurated by the dedicated teams from the 85 Road Construction Company (RCC) and the 756 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), who faced relentless rain, threats of flash floods, and difficult mountainous conditions.
A Defence official noted that BRO teams worked tirelessly to tackle severe logistical and environmental hurdles throughout the project’s execution.
The newly built triple-double reinforced (TDR) Bailey bridge is anticipated to greatly enhance the transport of security personnel, military supplies, and essential goods to border areas. Additionally, it will act as a vital lifeline for the inhabitants of remote villages, ensuring consistent connectivity year-round.
Project Arunank has been instrumental in developing strategic road and bridge infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh, including the crucial Hapoli-Sarli-Huri road network. This latest bridge is expected to further bolster the region’s transportation system and improve access to secluded areas.
Officials indicated that the bridge would provide all-weather connectivity, link remote border villages to the broader economy, and enhance defence readiness in one of Arunachal Pradesh's most challenging operational sectors.
As per the Defence PRO based in Guwahati, the successful completion of this project underscores the BRO’s ongoing commitment to fortifying India’s border infrastructure and supporting national security, while also promoting the vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat through resilient and strategic connectivity initiatives.
