New Delhi, Jun 27: The identities of six military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice during Operation Sindoor in May 2025 have been officially revealed, with their names now inscribed on a wall at the National War Memorial.

Among the fallen, five were members of the Indian Army, while one served in the Indian Air Force. Their names have been etched on Wall No. 3D of the Tyag Chakra at the memorial in New Delhi, honoring their bravery.

The soldiers commemorated include Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar (VrC), Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Mood Muralinaik, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh from the Indian Army, and Sergeant Surendra Kumar from the Indian Air Force.

Alongside their names, the units they served in have also been inscribed. Recent updates indicate that these inscriptions were added to the memorial not long ago.

Additionally, their names have been incorporated into the Roll of Honour available on the National War Memorial's official website.

Situated at the India Gate complex, the National War Memorial pays tribute to Indian soldiers who have lost their lives in service since Independence. The memorial features an obelisk at its center, surrounded by the eternal flame, Amar Jawan Jyoti, and concentric circles with curved walls displaying the names of the fallen.

On Wall No. 3D, a brick at the top is marked with "OP SINDOOR," followed by another labeled "2025." The names of the six soldiers are engraved in a vertical column across separate rows of bricks beneath these inscriptions.

Operation Sindoor was initiated by India in the early hours of May 7, 2025, as a response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The operation involved targeting and dismantling various terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In retaliation, Pakistan launched offensives against India, with all Indian counter-offensives conducted under the banner of Operation Sindoor. The military engagement between the two nuclear-armed nations concluded after both sides reached a mutual understanding on the evening of May 10, 2025.
