New Delhi, July 1: Following his appointment as the Chief of the Army Staff, General Dhiraj Seth introduced “VIJAY”, a strategic framework aimed at creating a technology-driven and future-ready Indian Army. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation.

During a press conference after receiving a ceremonial Guard of Honour at South Block, Gen Seth emphasized that the Indian Army is a "combat-ready and battle-hardened force" prepared to address evolving security threats while integrating new technologies.

Expressing his gratitude for the leadership role over the 1.3 million personnel, the Army Chief committed to fulfilling his duties with a steadfast dedication to the principles of duty, honour, and prioritizing the nation.

He stated, "As the security environment changes, we must expedite the Army's modernization and develop a technology-enabled force for the future," noting that his priorities are influenced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's vision for a transformative decade.

Gen Seth elaborated that each letter in “VIJAY” signifies a fundamental aspect of his leadership approach.

The first letter, “V” for Vigilance and Readiness, highlights the Army's dedication to maintaining constant vigilance along the borders and ensuring operational readiness to counter any national security threats.

The second letter, “I” for Innovation and Transformation, emphasizes the integration of technological advancements into military strategies, operational planning, and capability enhancement, adapting to the evolving nature of warfare.

“J” represents Jointness and Integration, which focuses on enhancing collaboration with the Indian Air Force and Navy to improve operational effectiveness.

The fourth pillar, “A” for Atmanirbharta, aims to foster a self-reliant Army by utilizing indigenous technologies and defense capabilities, with the goal of conducting future operations using homegrown solutions.

Finally, “Y” for Yodha First, places soldiers at the forefront of the Army's transformation efforts.

From Agniveers to veterans, every soldier is considered the Army's greatest asset, and enhancing their technological skills and training will be a top priority.

Gen Seth drew a connection between his vision and the Prime Minister's guidance for the armed forces, stating that the government’s “JAI” mantra—Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation—serves as the foundation for “VIJAY”.

He also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and Defence Minister for their trust in him to lead the Indian Army and honored the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Gen Seth took command on Tuesday, succeeding General Upendra Dwivedi, who retired after over forty years of service. He assumes leadership at a pivotal moment as the Army embarks on a significant modernization initiative focused on self-reliance, technological progress, and readiness to tackle evolving border and security challenges.
