New Delhi, Jun 30: Outgoing Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi emphasized that future conflicts will necessitate a more integrated and theatre-oriented approach, stating that the military's strategy is to 'see together, decide together, and act together.'

General Dwivedi, who has dedicated over 40 years to military service, was honored with a ceremonial farewell at South Block, marking his retirement.

Reflecting on his tenure, he expressed profound gratitude and pride, noting, 'As I conclude my role as Chief of the Army Staff, I feel a deep sense of satisfaction.'

He highlighted the Indian Army's consistent operational readiness across various fronts over the past two years.

Regarding the northern border, he mentioned that under Operation Snow Leopard, the Army's presence remains vigilant and robust.

On the western front, he cited Operation Sindoor as a prime example of the Army's commitment and readiness.

General Dwivedi remarked that the armed forces have established a 'new normal' in national security through responsible actions.

During the May 2025 Operation Sindoor, which was a response to the Pahalgam terror attack, all three military branches collaborated effectively, enhancing their coordination.

He stated, 'The Army, Navy, and Indian Air Force worked in unison, sharing insights and integrating efforts.'

Looking ahead, he reiterated the importance of joint operations in warfare, asserting the need for collective decision-making and action.

General Dwivedi noted that the strength of the Indian Army lies not in any single individual but in its soldiers, commanders, veterans, families, and the unwavering trust of the citizens.

'Our dedicated soldiers stand firm in diverse terrains—mountains, deserts, glaciers, jungles, and challenging border areas—defending our nation,' he added.

Having assumed the role of the 30th Chief of the Army Staff in June 2024, he reflected on his remarkable journey from Sainik School to this pivotal position, calling it the greatest honor of his life.

Before the farewell, he paid tribute to the nation's heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.

An alumnus of the Sainik School in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, General Dwivedi was commissioned into the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in 1984.

His career is distinguished by a balanced command and staff experience across Northern, Eastern, and Western operational theatres.
