New Delhi, Nov 7: During a recent visit to the Bagdogra Air Force Station, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the necessity for India's armed forces to uphold peak operational readiness to effectively address any threats to national security.

Speaking to air personnel at this strategic airbase located near the China border, Singh highlighted that while adversaries may avoid direct confrontations, they often seek to exploit specific "vulnerabilities".

"Adversaries frequently refrain from direct conflict and instead aim to take advantage of our weaknesses. They may use social media to create doubt among local populations and our troops by disseminating false information," he remarked.

"In this context, your responsibilities transcend those of a typical soldier," he added.

Singh urged the military to ensure the highest levels of operational readiness, focusing particularly on enhancing domain awareness, cyber resilience, and the integrity of information to effectively tackle emerging security challenges, as stated by the defence ministry.

He pointed out that the security environment has grown "increasingly complex," with modern warfare extending beyond traditional border engagements to include asymmetric warfare, proxy conflicts, cyber threats, drone attacks, information warfare, and narrative control.

Singh described Bagdogra as a strategically vital area and an essential component of India's security architecture, especially concerning the North-Eastern region. He praised the bravery and commitment of defence personnel in protecting national interests.

He noted that the air warriors stationed in this area act as a strong defense for the eastern sector's security, and their readiness is crucial for maintaining regional stability.

Commending the soldiers for their dedication, he encouraged them to strengthen ties with the local community, particularly in and around Bagdogra, fostering a strong bond of trust and affection between the populace and the armed forces.

"The more you connect with the local community, the less effective the adversary's schemes will be," he stated.

Present at the event were Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Air Officer Commanding of Bagdogra Air Force Station Air Commodore Manish Sharma, along with other senior IAF officials.
