Deepti Sharma Makes History

In a remarkable achievement, Indian spinner Deepti Sharma has made her mark in the record books during a crucial Women's T20 World Cup match against Australia. She became the all-time leading wicket-taker in women's international cricket by taking the wicket of Australian opener Beth Mooney, who was caught by Radha Yadav after misplaying a slog sweep.

This wicket brought Deepti's total to 356 international wickets, surpassing the previous record held by former Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami, who had 355. The top five leading wicket-takers now include Australia's Ellyse Perry (336), England's Katherine Sciver-Brunt (335), Sophie Ecclestone (333), and South Africa's Shabnim Ismail (323).

Australia Eliminates India from T20 World Cup

In the final Group A match at Lord's, Australia Women triumphed over India Women by six wickets, resulting in India's elimination from the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. India faced a must-win situation to advance to the semi-finals.

Australia and South Africa Women topped the Group A standings after South Africa secured a victory against Bangladesh earlier in the day.

This outcome means India is out of the tournament, having previously lost to South Africa in the group stage. Australia, on the other hand, has advanced to the semi-finals without a loss, continuing their impressive performance in ICC events. This match also marked the highest successful run chase in Women's T20 World Cup history.
