Deepti Sharma Accuses UP Warriorz Teammate of Theft and Fraud
Allegations of Theft by Arushi Goel
In Delhi, Indian cricketer Deepti Sharma has leveled serious allegations against her UP Warriorz teammate, Arushi Goel, accusing her of theft and fraud. Sharma claims that Goel impersonated her and made off with ₹25 lakh, along with jewelry and foreign currency valued at around $2,500 from her residence. Deepti's brother, Sumit Sharma, has lodged a complaint with the local police, which has led to the registration of an FIR after preliminary evidence was found. The charges include theft, breach of trust, and housebreaking.
Background on the Accused
Arushi Goel, who plays for the UP Warriorz, also works as a junior clerk in the Agra division of Indian Railways. Deepti and Arushi were previously close friends and had played competitive cricket together before joining the UP Warriorz. Deepti is also employed by Indian Railways.
Financial Exploitation Allegations
Reports indicate that Arushi had borrowed money from Deepti multiple times, claiming family issues, but did not repay the loans, prompting the complaint. According to Sumit Sharma's statement, Arushi began to exploit Deepti's parents financially, citing emergencies and distress. Recently, Arushi performed well for India A against England A, scoring 46 runs across three matches, and excelled in the Senior Women's Inter Zonal two-day tournament with a score of 74 runs for Central Zone.
Details of the Allegations
Sumit Sharma revealed that his sister lost ₹25 lakh over the last two years, and when she confronted Arushi about the money, she refused to return it. He also accused Arushi of breaking into Deepti's apartment in Agra last month, changing the locks, and stealing jewelry and $2,500.
"My sister lost over ₹25 lakh in the two years. When she confronted Arushi, the latter refused to return the amount," Sumit Sharma stated.
