Tragic Incident in Telangana

The number of deceased workers from Odisha in the explosion at a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Telangana has tragically increased to nine, following the identification of another body through DNA matching, as confirmed by officials on Saturday.


Preetish Panda, the special officer from the Odisha Family Directorate, reported that the latest victim has been identified as Purna Chandra Sahu, a resident of Sukarapada in Cuttack district.


With this identification, the total fatalities from the powerful explosion that occurred on June 30 at a pharmaceutical plant in Pashmiliram, Sangareddy district, has reached nine.


Panda noted that among the deceased, three hailed from Ganjam district, two from Cuttack, two from Nabarangpur, and one each from Balasore and Jajpur districts. He added that the bodies of all the deceased have been handed over to their families.


Additionally, Panda mentioned that four individuals sustained injuries in the explosion; two have been discharged after treatment, while the other two remain under medical care. One of the injured, Samir Padhi from Ganjam district, suffered burns covering 35% of his body and is currently in the intensive care unit, but his condition is improving rapidly.
