Death Sentence for Man in Mathura for Attempted Rape and Arson
Mathura Court Delivers Harsh Sentence
In a shocking case from Mathura, a district judge has sentenced a man to death for his heinous crime against his own relative. The convict, Umesh, attempted to sexually assault his sister-in-law and, upon failing, tried to set her ablaze. The court deemed this case as one of the 'rarest of rare' and imposed a fine of ₹1.30 lakh on him.
Incident Details from March 11, 2025
The horrifying incident occurred on March 11, 2025. Umesh, a resident of Palwal in Haryana, had gone to his sister-in-law's home in a village within the Farah police jurisdiction. Disguised in women's clothing, he attempted to assault her. When she resisted fiercely, he doused her with a flammable liquid and set her on fire. Hearing her screams, family members rushed to help, but Umesh jumped from the roof, sustaining serious injuries.
Victim Succumbs to Injuries
The severely burned woman was rushed to the hospital, but her injuries were too grave, and she succumbed during treatment. Umesh was also hospitalized at Agra's SN Medical College for his injuries and was later sent to jail after recovery. The victim's husband filed a formal complaint against him.
Court's Verdict on Umesh
The district government advocate, Shivram Singh Tarkar, presented a compelling case in court. After reviewing all witnesses and evidence, Judge Vikas Kumar found Umesh guilty. The court emphasized that society has no place for individuals who commit such atrocious acts.
