Stabbing Incident Overview

On Thursday afternoon, two individuals were stabbed in broad daylight on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, as reported by the New York City Police Department (NYPD). The first victim, a 57-year-old man, was assaulted near the intersection of West 84th Street and Central Park West around 1:31 PM. Upon arrival, officers responding to a 911 call found him conscious and alert, suffering from a stab wound to his back.

Shortly after, authorities discovered a second victim, a 50-year-old man, injured nearby at West 86th Street and Central Park West. He had sustained a stab wound to the chest. According to police reports, both men were stabbed in the torso, with additional sources indicating that the injuries were more widespread across their bodies. Both victims were transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where they are currently in stable condition and expected to recover.

While one of the victims may have been wearing a yarmulke, the motive behind these attacks remains unclear. The suspect fled the scene and later barricaded himself inside an apartment on Amsterdam Avenue, where he was eventually apprehended by the police. A knife was recovered at the scene. As of now, the suspect's identity has not been disclosed, and charges are still pending as the investigation into the motive continues.
