Amanda, the partner of former cricketer Damien Martyn, has shared a positive health update, indicating that the Australian cricket star is making good progress in his fight against meningitis.
Martyn was hospitalized on December 31 and subsequently placed in an induced coma after being diagnosed with meningitis. The 54-year-old cricketer represented Australia in 67 Test matches, 208 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and four T20Is from 1992 to 2006. He is celebrated as one of the finest ODI finishers in the sport's history.
Martyn's Recovery Journey
Recently, Amanda released a statement expressing gratitude for the support received and requested privacy for the family during this challenging period. She stated, "Damien is making good progress with his medical treatment. We are incredibly thankful to the medical team at Gold Coast University Hospital for their outstanding care during this difficult time. We kindly ask for privacy for the family," as reported by a media outlet.
Support from Former Teammates
Adam Gilchrist, a close friend and former teammate of Martyn, confirmed that the 2003 World Cup champion is receiving excellent medical care. He mentioned, "He is getting the best treatment, and Amanda along with the family appreciates all the prayers and well wishes coming their way," as quoted by cricket.com.au.
Darren Lehmann, another former Australian teammate and coach, also shared his support on social media, stating, "Sending lots of love and prayers to Damien Martyn. Stay strong and keep fighting, legend," after the news of Martyn's illness broke.

Martyn, renowned for his exceptional batting skills, concluded his Test career with a total of 4,406 runs across 67 matches, averaging 46.37, which includes 13 centuries. In ODIs, he amassed 5,346 runs in 208 games, averaging 40.80, with five centuries and 37 half-centuries.
Notably, he was awarded Player of the Series during Australia's last away series victory in India, where he emerged as the top scorer in four out of eight innings during the 2004 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
